CurrentPrep User Guide & Tutorial

Welcome to CurrentPrep, your AI-powered companion for clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination. This platform is designed to replace passive reading with active, highly-targeted practice.

Whether you are a beginner taking your first steps or a veteran preparing for Mains, this guide will help you unlock the full potential of the platform.

1. Core Features Overview

Before we dive into the setup, here is what CurrentPrep offers:

  • Daily ePaper: Not just a PDF. It’s an interactive, AI-curated newspaper that extracts exactly what you need for GS Papers, skipping the noise.
  • Smart Study Planner: An intelligent dashboard that schedules your daily tasks based on your exam year, study hours, and weak subjects.
  • Mock Test Builder: Generate unlimited, UPSC-standard MCQs or descriptive Mains questions on any specific sub-topic instantly.
  • Daily Quizzes: End-of-day knowledge checks based on the day's current affairs.
  • Monthly Digest: A compiled magazine for end-of-month revision.

2. Setting Up Your Study Dashboard

The Dashboard is your central command center. To get the most out of CurrentPrep, you need to configure your Study Planner correctly.

Step-by-Step Setup Wizard:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard: When you first log in, you will be greeted by the Setup Wizard.
  2. Basic Details:
    • Select your Target Exam Year.
    • Choose your Prep Mode (Full-Time or Part-Time) and Daily Study Hours.
  3. Subject Assessment (The Most Important Step):
    • You will see a list of GS subjects (Polity, History, Economy, etc.).
    • Rate your current proficiency as Strong, Average, or Weak.
    • Tip: Be honest! The AI will allocate more study hours to your "Weak" subjects and schedule them earlier in your timeline.
  4. Mains Configuration:
    • Optional Subject: Search and select your chosen optional. Rate your preparation level.
    • Ethics (GS4) & Essay: Rate your grasp on Ethics and tell the system how often you write full essays (Daily, Weekly, or Rarely).
  5. Generate Plan: Click "Generate My Study Plan".

What happens next? The AI calculates the days left until Prelims/Mains, reserves the last 30/15 days exclusively for revision, and generates a daily task list, weekly targets, and monthly goals.

Tip: You can re-run the Setup Wizard at any time by clicking "Re-do Setup Wizard" at the bottom of the Dashboard's Way Forward tab if your strategy changes.

3. Your Daily Workflow

To maintain consistency, follow this simple daily sequence:

  1. Check Your Dashboard: Log in and look at your Today's Tasks list.
  2. Read the ePaper: Click the 📰 task to open today's ePaper. Read the curated articles, check the Knowledge Snapshot (for static syllabus facts), and take the 5-question Daily Quiz at the bottom.
  3. Execute Study Tasks: Your dashboard will tell you what static topics to study today (e.g., 📚 Study: Fundamental Rights).
  4. Mark as Done: As you complete tasks, click the circle icon next to them. Watch your daily progress bar fill up to 100%!
  5. Submit Daily Review: Once all tasks are checked, a prompt will appear asking you to submit a quick review. This builds your "Streak" and earns you badges.

4. How to Customize Mock Tests

One of the most powerful features of CurrentPrep is the Custom Mock Builder. Don't wait for Sunday test series; test yourself immediately after reading a topic.

Generating a Custom Test:

  1. Go to Mock Tests from the side navigation.
  2. Select Custom Mock Builder.
  3. Select Subject & Sub-Topic: Want to practice only "Buddhism & Jainism"? Drill down into Indian History and select it.
  4. Choose Difficulty & Count: Select how many questions you want (e.g., 10, 20) and the difficulty level (UPSC Standard is recommended).
  5. Start Test: The AI instantly generates a fresh paper with negative marking (-0.66) enabled.

Post-Test Analysis:

  • Don't just look at the score. Click on View Explanations after submitting.
  • The AI provides detailed reasoning for why a statement is correct or incorrect, mapping it back to standard NCERT or reference book concepts.

5. Tracking Performance & Consistency

Motivation comes from seeing progress. Use the Dashboard's tabbed sections to track your journey:

  • Performance Tab: View your accuracy in mock tests over time, broken down by subject. If your Economy accuracy is dropping, the system will highlight it.
  • Challenges Tab: If you miss tasks and report "Lack of Time" or "Difficulty understanding" during your daily reviews, the AI logs this here and suggests actionable remedies.
  • Badges & Streaks: Maintain a 7-day, 30-day, or 100-day streak to unlock premium badges.
